Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and creative Lighting Director to design, implement, and manage lighting for live events, theater productions, television, film, or concerts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lighting design, equipment, and programming, ensuring that all productions meet artistic and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute lighting plans for productions, events, and performances.
  • Operate and program lighting consoles, including DMX and intelligent lighting systems.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and designers to achieve the desired visual effect.
  • Supervise lighting crew and oversee equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure proper placement, focus, and cueing of lights for optimal visual impact.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of lighting equipment and recommend upgrades or repairs.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
  • Adapt lighting designs to different venues, weather conditions (for outdoor events), and production needs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Lighting Director, Lighting Designer, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in lighting control systems (GrandMA, ETC, Hog, Avolites, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of DMX, LED, intelligent lighting, and rigging.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for directing a crew.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, electrical safety, and lighting maintenance.
  • Physical ability to lift and move lighting equipment and work at heights if needed.
  • Degree or certification in Lighting Design, Theater Production, or a related field (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in live concerts, theater, film, or TV production.
  • Knowledge of special effects lighting, projection mapping, and automated lighting systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD or lighting design software (Vectorworks, WYSIWYG, etc.).
