Power Generation & Distribution Nashville, TN
Clean, Calculated, Safe Power for Any Event — Planned to the Amp, Run by Professionals
Power Is the Foundation Every Event Stands On
Every speaker, every light, every LED wall, every coffee urn in the catering tent draws from the same place — power. Get it right and nobody ever thinks about it. Get it wrong and the whole show stops. Nashville Audio Visual has been engineering, delivering, and managing event power since 1995, from a single quiet generator at a backyard wedding to full 3-phase distribution feeding a festival stage. We plan it down to the last cable ramp, and we treat it with the seriousness it demands.
We Plan the Whole Show’s Power — Not Just Ours
Most power problems happen because someone only counted the AV. We don’t. Before a single cable ships, we build a complete load calculation for the entire event — every department, every vendor, every motor that turns on. We total the amperage per phase, add safe headroom, and account for startup surges so the system never runs at its limit.
- Audio, video & lighting rig draw, leg by leg
- Catering & kitchens — ovens, warmers, fridges, coffee, induction
- Climate control — AC units, floor fans, tent and patio heaters
- Vendors & food trucks needing dedicated circuits
- Registration, charging stations, networking & box office
- Headroom, inrush & redundancy built into every plan
Generators Sized to the Job
When there’s no building power — or not enough of it — we bring our own. Our towable, sound-attenuated diesel generators deliver clean, stable power for outdoor stages, tented galas, parking-lot activations, and remote sites all over Middle Tennessee. We match the unit to your calculated load, not to a guess, and we keep it quiet enough that your guests never hear it.
- Quiet, sound-attenuated diesel generators
- Sized to your load with proper headroom — never maxed out
- Clean, stable power for sensitive audio, video & LED
- Redundant / backup units for mission-critical shows
- Delivery, fueling & on-site monitoring included
Distribution That Keeps Power Clean & Balanced
Getting power to the site is only half the job. Distributing it safely is where the craft lives. We run cam-lock feeder from the generator or building tie-in into professional distro, balance the load evenly across all three legs of a 3-phase system, and break it out to where it’s needed through spider boxes and Socapex multi-cable. The result is stable, protected, evenly-loaded power at every position.
- Cam-lock feeder & building tie-ins
- 3-phase distribution & load balancing across all legs
- Spider boxes breaking out to 20A Edison circuits
- Socapex (Soca) multi-cable for lighting rigs
- Step-up / step-down transformers when needed
- Every circuit individually protected & labeled
Cable Management Down to the Last Ramp
The difference between a professional install and a hazard is in the details on the floor. We don’t just run cable — we manage it. Every high-traffic run is covered with a rated cable ramp; every cable is the correct gauge for its load, labeled at both ends, and dressed so it’s safe and serviceable. Our gear travels in custom road cases so it arrives organized and goes in fast and clean.
- Rated cable ramps over every walkway & vehicle path
- Floor matting & safe cable dressing in guest areas
- Correctly gauged, individually labeled runs
- Socapex multi-cable to cut clutter on lighting rigs
- Custom road cases for fast, organized load-in
Stage & Floor Power Exactly Where You Need It
Power is only useful where the plug is. We place stage power pockets, distribution boxes, and quad drops precisely where your stage, FOH, catering, and vendor positions need them — so there are no daisy-chained power strips, no overloaded outlets, and no extension cords stretched across a doorway. Clean drops, the right connectors, at the right positions.
- Stage power pockets & clean on-deck drops
- Dedicated circuits for FOH, backline & catering
- Quad boxes & Edison drops at every position
- L5-30, L21-30 & the right connectors for the job
- Green room, dressing room & vendor tie-ins
Delivery, Install & On-Site Management
We don’t hand you a generator and a pile of cable and wish you luck. Our crews deliver every component, install and test the full system, and stay on-site to manage it through the event — watching loads, balancing legs, and responding instantly if anything needs attention. At the end of the night we strike it all and leave the site exactly as we found it.
- Full delivery of generators, distro & cable
- Professional install & system testing before doors
- On-site technicians monitoring power the whole event
- Live load balancing & instant issue response
- Complete strike & site cleanup at load-out
Power Is Serious. We Treat It That Way.
Done right, power is invisible — the show just works. Done wrong, it’s the most dangerous thing on the site: shock, fire, dropped shows, and real risk to your guests and crew. There is no room for amateurs in this part of the build. Proper grounding and bonding, GFCI protection, correctly rated cable, balanced loads, and protected, ramped runs aren’t optional extras — they’re the baseline we engineer into every job.
With three decades and 25,000+ events behind us, we’ve powered everything from intimate ballrooms to CMA Fest-scale productions. When the stakes are this high, you want the professionals.

Do you provide generators for events in Nashville?
Yes. Nashville Audio Visual supplies and operates towable, sound-attenuated diesel generators for events of every size — from a single quiet generator powering a backyard wedding to multiple large units feeding a festival stage. We size the unit to your calculated load with proper headroom, handle fueling and delivery, and provide on-site technicians to monitor it for the duration of the event.
How do you determine how much power my event needs?
We build a full load calculation before anything ships. That means adding up the draw of every department that needs power — audio, video, and lighting, but also catering and kitchens, climate control (fans, AC, tent heaters), vendors and food trucks, registration, and guest charging. We total the amperage per phase, add safe headroom, and account for inrush and motor startup loads so the system never runs at its limit. Nothing is guessed.
What is the difference between a spider box, a distro, and cam-lock?
Cam-lock (often 'cam-loks') are the single-conductor feeder connectors that carry high-amperage power from a generator or building tie-in to a distribution point. A distro (power distribution box) takes that feeder power and splits it into manageable, protected circuits. A spider box is a portable distribution box that breaks a single feed out into multiple standard 20-amp 'Edison' outlets across the floor. We use all three together to move power safely from the source to the device.
Do you handle 3-phase power and cam-lock distribution?
Yes. We design and install full 3-phase distribution using cam-lock feeder, professional distro, transformers, and Socapex multi-cables for lighting. Three-phase lets us move large amounts of power efficiently and balance the load across all three legs, which is exactly what large-format lighting rigs, LED walls, and concert audio systems require.
Is generator and distributed power safe for live events?
It is when it is engineered correctly — and that is the entire point of hiring professionals. Power is one of the most dangerous elements on any event site. We protect every system with proper grounding and bonding, GFCI protection where required, correctly rated cable, balanced loads, and cable ramps and matting over every run so nothing is a trip or shock hazard. Our technicians stay on-site to monitor the system the whole time.
Do you deliver and manage the power on-site, or is it drop-off only?
Both options exist, but for anything beyond the simplest setup we strongly recommend full-service. We deliver the generators, distro, and cable, install and test the entire system, manage load balancing during the event, respond instantly to any issue, and strike it all at the end. You get power that simply works — and a professional watching it the whole time.
