Event Production & Audio Visual in Birmingham, AL
Turnkey, Convention-Scale Production for the Magic City — Trucked in from Nashville
When Birmingham’s Biggest Events Need More Than the House Package
Birmingham is Alabama’s largest metro and its corporate capital. Regions, Protective Life, Alabama Power, Encompass Health, Brasfield & Gorrie, and Shipt are headquartered here; UAB is the state’s largest employer and one of the country’s biggest academic medical centers; and the BJCC, Legacy Arena, and Protective Stadium anchor a downtown that hosted the World Games. That adds up to a serious calendar — annual meetings, general sessions, medical conferences, galas, and conventions that are judged on how the room looks and sounds.
Nashville Audio Visual is about 190 miles up I-65. Since 1995 we have built the general sessions at Music City Center, the Gaylord, and Nashville’s convention hotels, and we bring the same trucks, inventory, and crew to Birmingham for the productions that have to be right — turnkey, on one itemized quote, with one point of contact from stage plot to strike.
What We Bring Down I-65
Not a folding table of rental gear — a production. Everything below is owned inventory that rides in our trucks with the crew that runs it, so a Birmingham show is never waiting on a sub-rental or a local dealer.
- Video — LED video walls, laser projection up to 15,000 lumens, IMAG camera switching, confidence monitors, live streaming and hybrid feeds
- Audio — line arrays and delays for ballrooms and arenas, digital consoles, Shure wireless handhelds and lavaliers, stage monitors, playback
- Lighting — intelligent moving fixtures, stage wash, gobo scenery, perimeter uplighting, string-light and pattern ceilings
- Staging & scenic — stage decks and risers, truss, drape, scenic backdrops, lecterns, custom set pieces
- Power & networking — distribution, generators where the venue has no drop, event Wi-Fi and a wired feed for the stream
- Crew — a technical director, audio, video, and lighting operators, and a show caller who runs the run-of-show to the minute
Conventions, Banking & Healthcare Events
Birmingham’s event calendar is driven by three engines. Conventions and trade shows fill the BJCC’s exhibition halls and the Sheraton and Westin attached to it. The banking and insurance sector — Regions, Protective, and the firms around them — runs annual meetings, leadership summits, and client galas where the production is part of the brand. And UAB Medicine, Southern Research, and the healthcare companies headquartered here host medical conferences, symposiums, and recognition dinners that need clean IMAG, crisp presentation video, and a stream for the physicians who could not travel.
- BJCC conventions, trade-show stages & general sessions
- Annual meetings, leadership summits & shareholder events for the banking & insurance sector
- UAB and healthcare conferences, symposiums & CME programs with live streaming
- Galas, award shows & fundraisers — from the Alabama Theatre to a tented lawn
- Product launches, sales kickoffs & town halls for the tech and construction firms in Innovation Depot and downtown
- Concerts, festivals & large-format live events
Birmingham Venues We’re Built For
We are independent, so we go wherever the client books. Every venue below gets a proper advance — dock and freight-elevator windows, power drops, rigging points, house-sound tie-ins, and the in-house team’s rules — before anything is loaded in Nashville.

How an Out-of-Town Production Works
Travel shows are won in the advance. There is no running back to the warehouse from Birmingham, so the whole job is planned to the case before the truck rolls.
Yes, We Travel. Here Is What It Looks Like.
Birmingham is a three-hour drive. We have taken full productions much farther. Every event below was produced end-to-end by our crew — planning, gear, load-in, and show call.
When to Call Nashville — and When Not To
Birmingham has capable local AV providers, and for an everyday meeting they are the right call. We earn the drive when the production is large, complex, or too important to hand to a vendor you have never worked with.
| The event | Book local | Call Nashville Audio Visual |
|---|---|---|
| Board meeting, breakout, small seminar | Yes — a projector, a mic, and the house sound will do it | Not worth the trip; we will say so |
| Convention general session at the BJCC | If they own the LED wall, line array, and crew depth for a 1,000-seat room | This is what we do every week in Nashville’s convention center — the gear is owned, the crew has run it hundreds of times |
| Annual meeting or gala the brand is judged on | If you have a vendor you already trust with it | Scenic, lighting design, IMAG, and a show caller — one crew accountable for the whole room |
| Multi-day conference with streaming | Possible; ask who runs the stream and the switcher | Camera switching, encoders, confidence monitors, and a dedicated operator are part of the package |
| Event series across Nashville, Huntsville & Birmingham | Three vendors, three briefings, three looks | One team, one design, one point of contact in every city |
Wondering what a show like this costs? Component ranges — LED walls, PA packages, projection, lighting — are published in our event production cost guide. A Birmingham quote is those numbers plus the trip, itemized.

Birmingham Event Production — Common Questions
Does Nashville Audio Visual provide event production in Birmingham, AL?
Yes. Birmingham is about 190 miles south of our Nashville warehouse on I-65 — roughly three hours by truck — and we travel there for conventions, corporate general sessions, galas, and multi-day conferences that need full production: LED video walls, line-array audio, stage lighting, staging, and a crew that runs the show call. Birmingham clients get the same gear and the same crew we put in Nashville's convention center and hotel ballrooms.
What kinds of Birmingham events are the right fit?
Productions with real technical weight: general sessions and trade-show stages at the BJCC, annual meetings and galas for Birmingham's banking, insurance, and healthcare companies, medical and research conferences around UAB, award shows, product launches, and concerts or festivals that need touring-grade sound and lighting. A one-projector breakout meeting is better served locally — we say so in the section above.
How does pricing work for an out-of-town event in Birmingham?
One itemized, all-in quote. Trucking, crew travel, lodging, and per-diem are line items on the same page as the gear and labor, so there is nothing to discover later. Because there is a road trip involved, we set a project minimum that makes the trip worthwhile — which is why we recommend ourselves for medium-to-large productions, where the travel cost is a small share of the budget and the per-attendee cost stays competitive with a local bid.
Do you work at the BJCC and other Birmingham venues?
We are an independent production company, so we work in any Birmingham venue the client books — the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (exhibition halls, Concert Hall, Legacy Arena, and the attached Sheraton and Westin), downtown and Uptown hotels, UAB and Samford campus spaces, historic rooms like the Alabama Theatre, private clubs, breweries and warehouse venues, and outdoor sites from Railroad Park to Barber Motorsports Park. We advance every venue directly — dock access, power, rigging points, and house rules — before the truck leaves Nashville.
How far in advance should we book a Birmingham production?
For a convention general session or a multi-day conference, four to eight weeks gives us time to do the venue advance properly and hold the right inventory. Galas and single-day corporate events can often be turned faster. If your date is close, call — we will tell you honestly whether we can do it right.
Can you stream or run a hybrid session from Birmingham?
Yes. We bring the camera switching, encoders, and confidence monitors for IMAG and live streaming, and we coordinate the venue's internet or bring our own connectivity for the feed. Hybrid is a real production discipline — a laptop on a chair at the back of the room is not — so it is scoped and staffed as part of the show, not bolted on.
Do you cover Hoover, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, and the rest of the metro?
Yes — the whole Birmingham–Hoover metro, including Jefferson and Shelby County: Hoover and the Hoover Met complex, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Trussville, Bessemer, and Leeds. Tuscaloosa and Anniston are within reach for the same size of production.
Can one AV partner cover our events in Nashville, Huntsville, and Birmingham?
That is one of the best reasons to call us. Companies running an event series across the Southeast get one production team, one point of contact, one look, and one standard — Nashville, Huntsville, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, or Bowling Green — without re-briefing a new vendor in every city. We have taken full productions as far as the Omni in San Antonio for exactly that reason.
