Lighting the Shot:
Nashville Soccer Club
A Great Player Portrait
Starts With the Light.
When the Nashville Soccer Club needed images for its annual photo shoot — the headshots, hero portraits, and social content that carry a club through a full season — they didn't want a flat, evenly-lit backdrop. They wanted players who look as bold on screen as they do on the pitch. That comes down to one thing: the lighting.
Nashville Audio Visual built a film-grade lighting package for the shoot, blending soft cinematic key light with hard, theatrical beams and a wash of atmospheric haze. The result is the look you see above — a single athlete carved out of the dark in the club's own navy and gold.
"Anyone can point a camera at a player. The light is what makes them look unstoppable."
— Nashville Audio Visual lighting teamThe Soft Side: ARRI
For clean, flattering skin tones we leaned on ARRI — the standard in film and broadcast. Two SkyPanel S60 kits delivered a wide, color-accurate key, and two more S60-C units wore medium Chimera lightbanks to wrap the subject in soft, controllable light. Two ARRI Orbiters added punchy, tunable accents wherever a portrait needed an extra kick of color or separation.
The Drama: Beams & Haze
Soft light alone is safe. To give the frames real attitude, we flew four High End Systems SolaFrame 750 moving heads for sharp, saturated beams and gobo texture, plus a Prolight Eclipse FS with a tight 10° lens for hard specular hits. An Ultratec Radiance hazer filled the room just enough to make every beam visible — those gold and blue shafts cutting through the dark are the haze doing its job.
Everything ran from a Road Hog 4 lighting console, so the crew could recall and re-shape looks instantly between setups, and the whole rig sat on combo stands for fast, precise positioning around the talent. No waiting, no fumbling — just look after look, dialed and ready for the camera.
One Shoot.
A Season of Content.
The right lighting package turns a single afternoon into a library of striking, on-brand imagery — portraits, social posts, and graphics that hold up all season long. That's the difference between a snapshot and a statement.
